Australia look a beaten side

a common scenario by the 3rd innings of a match during the Tim Paine era

What idiot at CA thought it was a good idea to give India a grassy pitch to play on?

Aus needs roads. India just competed in SA and Eng admirably in hard and closely fought series...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... tin-langer

Justin Langer believes if the Australia players were to react in the same manner Virat Kohli celebrated the wicket of Aaron Finch, they would be considered "the worst blokes in the world". Langer also fended off criticism from Sachin Tendulkar over Australia's slow batting in the first innings.

This is getting dramatic off the field...

Now that this series is effectively 1-0 to BCCI, what are the likely results in the tests ahead and where represents Australia's best chance to get a result in this series?

I see Melbourne and Sydney as potential draws and Perth as a result pitch probably likely to favour India. Hence my 2-0 prediction. Australia though probably also have their best chance of a win in Perth. It will be the pivotal test of this series, either it decides the final result or it provides a chance for Australia to tie it.

I remember Moeen Ali also dismissing Kohli in similar fashion.

We talk a lot about Kohli's weakness outside the off-stump to the moving ball, but what about his weakness against Lyon/Moeen where he ends up feeding forward short leg?

Australia may be ranked #5 but they're currently the 6th best side going around at the moment fighting it out with the likes of Sri Lanka and West Indies for that honour

I listened to Fox trying to thank Starc for the footmarks. That is wrong imo - on the replays only once did Starc even touch the problem spot.

The issue is all the Australian LHB and no left arm seamers for India. Shami and Sharma just keep going around, they're the ones making the problem rough.

Happened in England too. England had lhb Cook, Jennings, Stokes, Curran, Anderson, Ali.. India had Dhawan and Pant...

If Kohli could just ban left hand batsmen, or right arm fast bowlers, he'd have no problem :D

That's a bit rough of Zimbabwe... they just drew in Bangladesh... :D

I think there is about to be a spectacular fall from grace for SA. Their bowlers will keep them in it, Rabada, Ngidi, Philander, Steyn - sure... but on the batting front...

AB retired. Amla appears to be done. De Kock is fading. Faf is solid but mostly against Australia (and he keeps saying every tour may be his last). Elgar okay. Markram potential. But just so much spud batting.

I don't see De Kock is fading, he's still young

Australia drew in Bangladesh too, I think we can handle Zimbabwe, and easily account for both at home

South Africa continue to produce quality players. Players retire but there's someone to fill their place.
This has ceased happening in Australia.

Australia in Bangladesh was my point :P

de Kock is fading of late...

Test:

2016 60+
2017 36
2018 20

ODI

2016 57
2017 53
2018 32

t20I

2016 32
2017 29
2018 18

Similar story for IPL - started with a hiss and a roar in 2016 - last 2 years ordinary and dropped.

As you say he is young, and has more than enough time to turn it around - but its getting noticed - especially by people like G Smith...

what’s with these BCCI jinxing? every time someone say something a wicket falls. yikes.

The runs and the wickets are variable.

If Kohli has his way - he will set 400... so no wickets are needed tomorrow.

If he sets 300~ he'll want Aus at about 100-2 at stumps.

The critical wicket is Khawaja. If India has 200 or more to defend when Khawaja is dismissed, they are well in front of the game imo. He is the one who will be the least phased by it all in terms of experience despite his off-field dramas.

From an Australian point of view I am disappointed in yesterdays bowling with India allowed to leave the ball far too often.

India learned from their first innings top order mistakes but Australia quicks fell for it and concentrated on the edge behind the wicket.
Can they bowl straighter today and can they fight back with the bat?

India to get around 400 in front and declare about 30 mins before stumps

let me correct that, I think they'll accelerate before the declaration and get 450 in front
