Hopefully we'll come back fresh tomorow morning and knock over a few, getting them for 420-430.
We'll then need to bat really well again.

Am hoping we can set them at least 200 in the second innings.
We have Bishoo, Chase and Warrican - and Holder and Gabriel can also produce inspired spells.
So, though BCCI are totally on top, am hoping they'll have a shocker of a second innings.

Only way its possible (200 chase) if Westindies repeat 311/335 again vs Kuldeep/jadeja.

Last six innings by W.i in India before 2018 two test tour:161,158,196
188,119,179

Good Luck Hope & Chase.

Haha. It is closer than many Australian fans would like, but I suspect the current WI team still has weaker batting than Australia's current motley crew.

Tbh, as a cricket fan who typically roots for Australia to lose, I miss Steven Smith not playing. I want to see the best play. It isn't aesthetics, because he's the ugliest strokemaker since Andrew Jones. And it's not just because he single-handedly made Australia's tour of India a breathtakingly entertaining series (best series as a cricket fan that I can recall for quite some time, it really was enthralling and Jadeja's influence for India winning is quite understated), I just want to know how good the best really are.

I'll be happier when he has served his penance and returns to the fold.

For WI - get DM Bravo back already. The whole situation is nothing short of ridiculous!

I miss Steven Smith too. Warner is a bit of a bull terrier, little obnoxious at times. But he is a counter attacking player in the Sehwag mould.

Yes westindies ordinary team I doubt even they can reach 135 or 150 today vs Umesh/Jadoo and Ash.
I think BaZ innnings of 225 was once escape by NZ here otherwise we beat 1 time NZ here, twice Aus and twice bangers by an innnings so we never bats on innnings #4 here

Nice job by WI think game might complete in yet another 3 day = 4 test vs WI in 12 days in india which creates results.i wish good luck to tourist for test series in Asia in November 2018.

They've got to 350 :( .

Holder has got a 5-fer.
To go with his 50 with the bat.
Against the World No.1 Test team on their home turf.

Batting average of 30-odd with a bowling average of 28-odd.

Yeah Holder is a quality player. Great allrounder in a weak as f side. In the mould of Streak, Shakib and Mushie.

56-run lead.
Not bad, was expecting much worse at the end of day's play yesterday.

To keep BCCI down to under 400 at home, on a good batting wicket - is very creditable.

Now boys, please bat sensibly.
Put a price on your wicket.
Plenty of time in the game.
It's not going to be easy but keep your target score at 300+, so that BCCI need to chase 244 at least.

Go, Windies, go!

Blew it!
127 all out!
What sort of rubbish score is that?

72 to win.

At least it's not an innings defeat this time.

That was lame and tame.
After the bowlers did so well to keep BCCI down to a 56-run lead, the batsmen let Windies down again!
Worst thing is, it was a good batting wicket on all days.
Not taking anything away from Umesh (he really bowled well), but this was just capitulation.
The quality of Windies batting brought to question again.

Harbhajan made a derogatory remark recently, along the lines of questioning whether this Windies side would even win against a B-level first class team in India. I thought it was in very poor taste.

But the best way to shut him up would have been to perform on the field.

Alas, not to be.

Hetmeyer with a rare gem of a knock.

Holder again with a critical innings despite not reaching 50.

WI amass 322/8 thanks to Bishoo and Roach wagging the tail.

Virat was outstanding.

Weak bowling, but he was sublime and brutal off anything short or too full. Overused term - but 'masterclass'.

Haven't been watching the game, but it looks like the Kohli juggernaut continues to steamroll opposition.
Well done, Virat. Need to thank Shikhar Dhawan for this. :-)
Should be an easy win.
Yes, the opposition isn't a tough side - but they did get 322, credit to them for that.
It's a decent score to chase.

Shimron Hetmyer seems to be a decent player.
His 3rd ODI 100 in 13 games, averages 45 now.
Windies desperately need quality now - hope he can sustain this and have a long career.
So many Windies players flatter to deceive - hope he isn't one of them.

Oh, it's a 5-ODI series?
Followed by a 3-T20 series?
Great!
Windies are more competitive in these formats, so I expect them to win the odd game at least, if not the series.
Especially the T20 series should be pretty even.
In the Test series, they never stood a chance.

I wonder why they pick Marlon s for ODI series? Youngster from their domestic might helps them today

From 81/1 they lost 3 in 35 runs with 118/4.so Momentum was gone.otherwise they can easily post 350/359 than india may not win.

Rohit finishes it off with a 6 to end at 152.
Is this a particularly small ground?
Rajkot is supposed to be a small ground (explains Jadeja's triples there and a lot of Pujara's runs) - but I have no idea about Guwahati.

They probably wanted to have a blend of experience and youth - and Marlon has done well in the past in India, if I remember right.

I don't think the Windies batting was the issue here - they did get to 322, didn't they?

The BCCI batting, on home grounds, is just too much of a powerhouse to deal with.

They chased this down with just 2 wickets down.

Unless there's a wicket that assists the bowlers, it's going to be very difficult for Windies to keep BCCI down to a sub-300 score, I suspect.

WI batting is always an issue unless Gayle gets a dbl ton.

No swing, seam or spin. 400+ pitch. Srsly.

Taking nothing away from Virat - outstanding. Rohit - downhill ski (like GG and Dhoni 2011 wc final).

Kohli is very close to touching 10K ODI runs.

Not that he frets too much about records. Tendulkar was always aware of a record approaching.

Kohli is a little behind on Test front though, he has scored 6,322 runs in Tests and 9,919 runs in ODI's as of now.

Age is not on his side, so I expect him to finish with about 11-12 K test runs. To surpass Tendulkar record is not easy.

Most Rohit Sharma straight sixes, including the match winning six went over 80 m. This stadium is a new stadium and it was holding its first ODI. It looked a good stadium with good facilities, certainly much better than the earlier international stadium of Guwahati.

what a sham of a match!

why do you need bowlers in such matches ?

If BCCI had batted first, another 200 for Rohit was very much on.

Pity Windies didn't put up enough for a Rohit 200.

Apparently the highest ODI total is 481-6 by England recently.

Great chance for BCCI to break this during this series. :-)

How is the Visakhapatnam ground? Six-friendly?

Just checked - the highest total on this ground is 356/9 (India vs Pak).

Interestingly, the highest score at Pune (3rd ODI) is also 356.

though it look easy you gotta give credit to amazing partnership. not everyday you get to see such fine dominating batting in-spite of huge 320+ target. i commend them.
