219 target.

6 sixers and 5 fours from just one bowler did the damage.
thampi career ends??

Thampi thumped out of the park.....sorry, could not resist the temptation! I am going to cross my fingers ( and legs, eyes etc) and say that SRH, not the best chasers, are not going to reach the target. Having already qualified and certain to remain in the Q1 match, their heart may not be in it. But RCB have keep fighting very hard with their bowling and fielding, especially with a deadbeat like Sarfarz Khan who is likely to drop a couple of catches and allow some 15 runs through. IMO, best to pretend that he is injured and get a substitute on the field.

RCB cannot make the same mistake as they did with their 200+ total against CSK. SRH might not have a Dhoni but Williamson etc are are still formidable.

It started. Sarfraz Khan has made a mess of a simple stop and allowed Pandey 4 bonus runs. If they don't send him off the field, Sarfraz could win this game singlehandedly.......for SRH.

If KKR lose to SRH, and RCB beat RR in their last games, RCB could be through - and KKR out.

Well done RCB and Siraj. I think though that they should award the MoM to the great Willamson for nearly pulling it off. Though an RCB fan, if one man deserves to lift that trophy, it is not Kholi nor Dhoni but Kane Williamson. He may be the only overseas captain but I think his troops will do their level best for him.

RCB should be able to carry the momentum to Jaipur and bear the weakened RR. Dew is not that much of a factor there as on other wickets.

I hope SRH go on to beat KKR. I'd love DD to beat MI again; they did it in Mumbai and should be able to do it at home, especially with nothing to lose.

One thing; if KKR lose badly to SRH and KXIP win big against CSK, is there a chance that KXIP's NRR and overtake that of KKR?

the loss is by 14 runs.
thampi gave away fkkking 70 runs in 4 overs he bowled.
had he been 30 runs less WITH 10 per over still it’s a winnable game for SRH.

Not necessarily. If MI lose to DD (which I hope that they will), KKR will qualify, uless they lose badly to SRH and KXIP have a big win over CSK and leapfrog their NRR; then KKR are out. If RCB do get through, they would certainly prefer to play KXIP at Eden Gardens and not KKR.

I've already resigned myself to accepting that MI will beat DD.
This is Mumbai we are talking about.
They won't lose at this stage of the tournament, that too to a team like DD.

Only question is, which of KKR, RCB, RR and KingsXI will be the 4th qualifying team.
I think it could well be RCB now.

One thing that I failed to understand is why Kane Williamson faced only 8 balls in the last 5 overs. Perhaps Pandey should have taken a strategic single that could have made the difference. As an RCB fan I am not complaining, but I do feel sorry for Williamson's monumental effort go unrewarded.

Yes, it is Mumbai Indians we are talking about, the most arrogant and biggest a--eho-les in IPL or any other tournament. If DD beat them on Sunday, I'll stand on my head and type with my feet!

Have you noted how anyone who plays for MI (with the sole exception of Jos Buttler in 2016 & 2017) develops that air of arrogance that makes you want to punch him in the face? Pollard never has that demeanor when he is in Widies colours; Hardik Panya and the Bum are fine as long as they are representing India; Suryakumar Yadav was human till he sold himself to the devil.

The problem is some players carry that arrogance even after they leave MI. I still can't stand Rayudu because his expression is like an MI player in yellow.

I agree with you on most MI players and their demeanour - but Rayudu is ok.
Can't stand the arrogance of the Pandya brothers and Pollard.
I think Rohit Sharma is ok too - but he used to play for Deccan Chargers at one time, so he isn't an MI thoroughbred.
It's the thoroughbreds who are the worst.

OK, moving on to the next match tomorrow, I wonder if CSK with stick with Willey or use Ngidi? IMO they should use the South African; he could be a very useful asset in the playoffs and could do with some match practice.

I would love to have seen Joe Root at this tournament.

I'm putting KW down as a success now - if he fails with the bat from here on in this season.

I don't think he has peaked yet, and still has more improvement in him as he continues to try and find the limits to his range.

I honestly believe that he still has the talent to nurture more shots and find top gear swifter.

Oh, Williamson is definitely one of the big successes of this tournament.
At the start, many were sceptical about his ability to fill in the big boots of Warner.
Not as captain, but as batsman.
As the tournament progressed, he has only got better - and now seems to up that SR quite comfortably.

A rare case of a "correct" Test batsman able to change his game and deliver in T20s.
Hope he can continue this.

I'd like CSK to win tonight, which they probably will and move temporarily into the top spot.
That leaves the weekend matches in a very interesting position.

My ideal results would be:

RCB to beat a weakened RR and progress to 14 points with a good NRR.

SRH to beat KKR and regain top spot on the table.

DD to beat MI and take them with them out of IPL.

If the above 3 results happen, it would be great to be a fly on the wall in the CSK meeting rooms. They will be assured of #2 place on the table and so of playing Q#1. But if they lose Q#1, they would face 50% possibility of playing KKR (if the latter qualify despite losing to SRH) in Q#2. If I am not mistaken, Q#2 will be at Eden Gardens and I don't think CSK will be keen on facing KKR there.

Therefore, it may actually be in CSK's interest to lose badly in their final match against KXIP and drag the latter along to the playoffs in lieu of KKR. I wonder if they are looking at that big picture.

But if CSK lose tonight, it will strengthen KKR's position. I don't want that.

KKR not making the playoffs will be best for not only CSK, but also for RCB (provided they make it themselves, of course). Nobody but MI will wany to play KKR at Eden Gardens.

This is bad. Why? I hope that it is only because the others are getting a bit of rest before they are ready to crush MI on Sunday. One way DD can go out with a bang is by becoming the only team to beat the defending champions (only for a few more days, mind) twice.

What pride? DD seem pathetic out there. They are going out with a whimper and not a roar.

But I'll forgive them if this meek display against CSK is just a smokescreen to fool MI on Sunday!

Well done DD; Please carry the same tempo to the next match and THRASH those arrogant ass--les MI out of this competition on Sunday. Then laugh your heads off at them. We'll join you.

Having said that, I wish CSK had not lost this one from the larger perspective. Now I have to hope that they don't become too determined for their final home game. I want KXIP to win that....and big. They will have Tye and Mujib bowling and Finch improving form in batting to join Rahul.

Another thing I hope is that KKR, realising that a big win against SRH tomorrow could leapfrog them ahead of CSK in NRR if the latter also lose to DD, try to rush it, make silly mistakes and lose badly to SRH and drop their NRR.

So,

RCB beat RR and go to 14 points with a positive NRR
SRH thrash KKR so that the latter's NRR drops significantly.
DD beat MI out of the competition and invite them out for a drink.
KXIP defeat CSK well enough to overtake KKR in the NRR.

That's my ideal scenario for the playoffs. SRH, CSK, RCB and KXIP to go through.

Just thought of something. Is there ANY chance of a massive downpour in Delhi on Sunday? The DD vs MI game being washed out? MI left stranded on 13 points? Now, that would be a lucky 13 for many!

i doubt RCB win over RR.
They might show same rock star arrogance and overconfidence and that would be their downfall.
DONT TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED.
each match is a totally new game in this IPL.

last heard entire india is going under heat wave. I doubt foreigners can withstand that heat. those that play night game over evening game can breath a sigh.

OK, 2 day games this weekend. West Indians, South Africans, those from the Indian subcontinent and to some extent Austalians can cope with the heat. English and Kiwi players could have problems and that is an issue for RCB. Moeen Ali can probably manage being of Asian background but CdG and Southee could struggle.

For MI, only MM is an issue. Others should manage. DD depend on some good bowling by Boult, who probably is not used to the heat.
