Williamson gone, after getting 24 off 26.

This doesn't look like an easy wicket to bat on.

Oooh!

Warner gone too.

This is where SRH's middle/late order will have to step up.

Already in the 13th over, need to aim for 170 at least.

Have a feeling Gambhir will do well today.
He's a big-match player.

Terrible batting performance today by SRH.
Now the bowlers really have to make it happen.
Not an easy pitch to bat on - and KKR don't have much depth, I think - so I still have hope for SRH.

Hate Bengaluru, always rains when trying to play a cricket match.

They just said if no more play possible, Sunrisers go through, how does that work, KKR haven't had a bat.

Apparently, if there's no play, SRH will go through because they finished higher in the league stage.

I don't think there will be any play, so it will be SRH vs MI for the second finalist spot.

In other words, MI.

And when MI met Pune again, this time, despite losing every other time to Pune this IPL, this time MI will win.

Oh, how I hate the cruelty of all this!

There are a couple of super soppers out there, but it's still raining heavily. The wait goes on as to whether we will get anymore play. There's lightning about too. What is it about the Chinnaswamy and rain?!

Maybe they could rename it Chinnaswimmy!

Don't write off SRH bowling as rubbish. They won defending low scores many times.
LOOK. when RCB vs SRH match got rained out they got half point only.
With that half point they would have been in 2nd position.
So one game rain failed. Other rain helped.
So it's even Stevens.
Rain is part and parcel of cricket.
We move on.

Well that was fun. I didn't mind who won but did mind both teams posting a score. The DL system obviously does not work for t20 cricket, favouring the side batting second who keep all their wickets and have a shorter time and total to get. But Sunrisers could not complain about their miserly score and now leave the tournament.

No way, Misty!

IPL is a tournament played by 8 teams and in the end Mumbai Indians win.
(with due apology to Gary Linekar).

That defeat to Pune was just to make Mumbai play one more game.
Mumbai has far more marketability (with many more stars) than Pune.
So good for all the commercially-oriented if Mumbai play an extra game.

I won't even be surprised if it was fixed this way.

If KKR win this, I have accurately predicted the bookie's error for the past 2 IPL's and the ICC WT20 who have gone on to win the tournament.

But as I don't have any money on it, c'mon Pune.

I jest, I'd much rather see CDG play and have a great game, but a blinder from Lockie wouldn't be too bad.

On Sunday will be the worst for me when it is all over and I think oh no - have to wait almost a whole year before it comes around again.

I really love it and miss it, the Big Bash doesn't really compare does it.

IPL - better than Christmas!

When will the auctions take place? I think it is definitely on that Rajhastan and Chennai are coming back in and so Pune and whichever other one it is will be leaving.

:?

Almost certain they'd have lost even if we'd had a full 20-over innings for KKR.
Their batting let them down big-time when it mattered most.

D/L is rubbish for T20s but in this particular case, it wasn't the reason SRH lost.

I'm an SRH fan myself (my second-favourite team after DD) - but, with this performance, their loss doesn't seen unfair to me.

Yes, waiting for the auctions myself. Maybe they should happen closer to IPL11 so that there aren't any surprises post-auction (like injuries).

Can't wait to see some realignment with reality.

SRH got 3 quick wickets. If the target is different the play would be different. SRH is the only team that defended low scores and won consistently. 3 quick wickets is proof enough. Give full 4 overs to bhuvi & Afghan spinner they would topple KKR in no time. I would Blame D/L even if KKR batted first for s mere 6 over match for another team batting all 20 overs. Let SRH know that it's going to rain before match that they play 20 but KKR only play 6 overs. Toss is a winner in a rain effected match under D/L.

Weather now, partly sunny. In two hours time? You can see, thunderstorms expected and so possibly no game at all.

Image

You can see that the storm is expected during the match from this hourly chart.

It makes me think with the climate and Bengaluru, why don't they choose somewhere else for these qualifiers.

From India Times...

Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians will lock horns in the second qualifier of the tenth edition of Indian Premier League in Bangalore. Kolkata will come into the game after an emphatic, and yet much delayed, 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator while Mumbai Indians lost to Rising Pune Supergiant in the first qualifier. The winner of this match will register a berth in the final of IPL 2017. While Kolkata Knight Riders have regained their momentum with a confident win, Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have won both their matches against KKR in the league stage.

The winner of this match between KKR and MI will march into the final of IPL 2017. KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator match while Mumbai lost to Rising Pune in the first qualifier. Apart from this one more situation exists. If the match is called off due to rain, Mumbai Indians will go into the finals as they finished ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders in the points table.

Kolkata Knight Riders would once again bank upon their batting strength. Skipper Gautam Gambhir guided his side to a win over SRH after being left tottering at 12/3 while chasing 48 in 6 overs on Wednesday night. Mumbai Indians would be relying upon their all-round performance. Mumbai could make a few changes after runs not coming the last time around with Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah likely to shoulder the burden.

Kolkata Knight Riders have leaked a huge amount of runs in their previous two meetings with Mumbai Indians. The KKR bowlers need to be more economical in order to put breaks on the run-flow against them. For Mumbai, Rohit and Pollard’s failure with the bat in their last match saw them lose the grip and the two right-handed batsmen need to get back into the groove to provide their team with some stability in the middle order.

KKR’s Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa and fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile will be the players to watch out for while for Mumbai, it would Rohit, Pollard and Bumrah who can come up with some decent performances to help their side register a berth in the finals.

KKR in a horrible mess in the powerplay. Bumrah strikes again and has Robin Uthappa lbw. I think Uthappa's last four innings have been two ducks and two 1's? Something like that anyway. 25-3 in the sixth.

Yes we feel your angst over Sunrisers. And truthfully I would rather have seen Sunrisers here put up more of a show than KKR who look like frightened rabbits.

As expected.

Mumbai could very easily have won the first playoff itself.

Now they've made their job very easy for the finals.

Pune is a joke of a side, without Stokes and Tahir.

Overall, this has been a terribly boring IPL.

Very few really close games, lots of thrashings.

Must admit, I didn't follow as many games this time as I did in earlier seasons

I bet Pune win finals again

No way!

Pune are a ragtag side - with major liabilities like Rahane and Manoj Tiwary in their ranks.

Mumbai are such a strong side that they cannot even find a spot for Nitish Rana.

Krunal, Hardik, Kieron, Ambati, Lasith, Jaspreet, Harbhajan, Lendl - all have great temperament and are match-winners.

Not one weak link in the Mumbai Indians' side.

And here's the head to head stat:

Overall: Matches played – 5, Mumbai Indians Won – 1, Rising Pune Supergiant Won – 4

In 2017: Matches played – 3, Mumbai Indians Won – 0, Rising Pune Supergiant Won – 3

So current form the reason Mumbai are favourites? They are a better all-round team but we know anything can happen.

Ah so it's finally the final of this thing eh?

Bring on a tie and a super over to make things interesting.

Looking back at the table, man RCB sucked this year.

:lmao: :lmao:

Final, Mumbai Indians v Rising Pune Supergiant
Hyderabad, May 21, 2017
Start time 2000 local

Agarkar: Mumbai have gained from lesser-known players

Form guide
•Rising Pune Supergiant: beat Mumbai by 20 runs; beat Kings XI by 9 wickets; lost to Daredevils by 7 runs.
•Mumbai Indians: beat KKR by six wickets; lost to Rising Pune by 20 runs; beat KKR by 9 runs.

Head-to-head

Overall: It's 4-1 to Rising Pune Supergiant. Mumbai Indians' most recent win against their opponents in the final came last year.

This season: Rising Pune won home and away in the league stage, and then shocked Mumbai again at the Wankhede in the first qualifier.

Big picture

It's groundhog day in the IPL, and Mumbai have gone to great lengths to make it happen. Now all they have to do is figure out a way to end the loop and get the girl. But if not that, then at least the trophy.

Who will win the IPL title?

Mumbai Indians
Rising Pune Supergiant

See results »

Twice in the league, and again in the first qualifier earlier this week, Rohit Sharma and his men have come up against Rising Pune, done everything they can, only to wake up and see its still February 2. Bill Murray's character - spoiler alert - eventually escaped his fate by accepting his curse. While that makes rom-com fans go "aww", those that frequent the Wankhede would go "&^%$*". Mumbai are two-time champions. Rising Pune won't even exist in the IPL after Sunday. They want a win before this rivalry ends.

Krunal Pandya was seen receiving treatment to his groin during the second qualifier but Rohit has said he should be okay to play. Mitchell McClenaghan, who did not play that game, will be assessed on the morning of the final in Hyderabad.

The likely XIs

Mumbai Indians 1 Parthiv Patel (wk), 2 Lendl Simmons, 3 Rohit Sharma (capt), 4 Ambati Rayudu, 5 Kieron Pollard, 6 Krunal Pandya, 7 Hardik Pandya, 8 Karn Sharma, 9 Mitchell Johnson/Mitchell McClenaghan, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Jasprit Bumrah

Rising Pune Supergiant 1 Ajinkya Rahane, 2 Rahul Tripathi, 3 Steven Smith (capt), 4 Manoj Tiwary, 5 MS Dhoni (wk), 6 Dan Christian, 7 Washington Sundar, 8 Shardul Thakur, 9 Lockie Ferguson, 10 Jaydev Unadkat, 11 Adam Zampa

Strategy punt

There are statistics to suggest the legspinner Karn Sharma, Mumbai's unexpected trump card, and left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya, should be saved for the Rising Pune middle order. They have been hit for 20 runs off nine balls by Rahul Tripathi and 25 runs off 13 balls by Steven Smith. But they have managed five dots in nine balls to MS Dhoni and 11 dots in 22 balls to Manoj Tiwary, at an economy rate of six or less.

Stats that matter

• Rising Pune have kept a lid on Mumbai's power players. Rohit and Kieron Pollard average 20.66 and 14.33 against them this season.

• In three matches, Rising Pune have only allowed Mumbai to hit 23 sixes and 35 fours. In comparison, Mumbai thrashed 29 sixes against Kings XI after only two meetings, and 47 fours after three rounds against Knight Riders.

• One of Rising Pune's biggest strengths is their ability to strangle teams in the middle overs. They have taken the most wickets - 41 - established the lowest run-rate - 7.16 - and accumulated the most dots - 321 - between overs seven and 15 this IPL.

• Mumbai, with 10, have the record for the most fifty-plus scores from the middle order in 2017. But only one of them has come against Rising Pune. Rohit's batsmen from No. 3 to No. 7 average only 13.86 and strike at 113 against Smith's bowlers.

• Dhoni, who will be playing his seventh final in ten IPLs, averages 64.66 and strikes at 161.66 against Mumbai in IPL playoff and knockout matches.

• Among those who have bowled at least six overs against Mumbai in this IPL, offspinner Washington Sundar's economy-rate of 5.25 is the second best, behind Rashid Khan's 5.12.

• Ajinkya Rahane has struggled all season, but he has contributed two of the four fifties Rising Pune have against Mumbai. No other team has managed more than two 50-plus scores against Mumbai.

• These statistics indicate how Rising Pune have kept the head-to-head in their favour so far, but Mumbai are big-match specialists. Lendl Simmons had three successive fifties in IPL play-off and knockout games before this year.

• Jasprit Bumrah has bowled more deliveries (152) in the last five overs than anyone else, and was resplendent when he bowled the first Super Over of his career earlier this season. He will go into the final on the high of recording his best figures in T20s - 3-1-7-3 - in the second qualifier against KKR on Friday.

• Pollard has faced 273 balls in the 2017 season - his second-highest tally in 10 IPLs. Nine more and he'll eclipse his personal best. But here's the kicker: Mumbai have won the title in two out of three previous seasons that he has batted more than 200 balls.

• In 12 innings this season, Krunal has conceded runs at only 6.72 per over. Here are the strike-rates of batsmen who have faced at least 10 balls from him. Tiwary (83), Manish Pandey (117), AB de Villiers (118), Hashim Amla (133), Rahane (135) and Suryakumar Yadav (161).
