Introduction to Cricforum

It was in October 2004, that a bunch of cricket enthusiasts, then regulars at BBC's cricket chat forum TMS, decided that they had so much in common, so much fun together, so much need to discuss things non-cricketing that they decided there was only one way to go - start out on their own. The world of BBC TMS was just not large enough to accommodate the interests, intellect and "muppetry" of this group of mavericks. That is how Cricforum was born - the brainchild of its leading maverick "Striped Lungi". Soon, like-minded members joined him from BBC TMS and other forums and by June 2005, Cricforum was well and truly on its way as an independent, non-conformist home in cyberspace to discuss a variety of subjects, from cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar's tennis elbow to the latest global political developments, from the latest Lord of the Rings release to a new, exotic recipe that you may not come across on any cookery show. Indeed, Cricforum contains a wide variety of topics that any member can participate in. So if you are a new member, or just interested in a fun forum, have a good look around. You are likely to find many topics of interest to you. Or, if you do not want to discuss any particular subject, you can always engage in light-hearted banter with another member. The forum is global and it is not unlikely that you will find somebody online at any given point in time.

A word about the members and the code of conduct out here. The age and occupation profile of our members is varied. From well-placed professionals to young students (whether high school or PhD), we have members who spend several hours of quality time on this forum each day, sharing news and views. Much of the membership is of South Asian origin but we have an increasing number of members from other regions of the world who are beginning to find a home here.
Given its origins, the predominant binding factor of members in Cricforum is still the game of cricket. With all its nuances and controversies. But more than just this, it is a spirit of fun, friendship and respect for other members that each Cricforum member brings to this place. These are values that the Cricforum management holds very dear and is, in essence, one of the strongest identities of this forum. Our liberal policy on free thinking and expression of opinion should not be mistaken for a licence to indulge in abuse or insult to any member on this forum.
If you believe in our values and would like to participate here, we welcome you to the forum. Register - give an intro about yourself in the Introduction section. Feel comfortable. Go to the Team section which contains photos of the Administrators and Moderators of this forum. Go to the Album section (on top of the index page) for photos of many of the regular members of this site. We would very much appreciate it if you embellished our Album section with a photo of your own.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. If you have any questions about what is explained here or about any aspect of Cricforum please do not hesitate to contact one of our Team members. Enjoy your time at Cricforum.
